All you need to know about DIY EV conversions

The AEVA has been helping Australians convert cars to electric drive for over 50 years!

Introduction to EV conversions

The Geelong sub-branch has curated a great list of suppliers for EV conversion parts,

The AS5732:2022 - Electric vehicle operations, maintenance and repair standard - for reference. Adherence to this standard is a requirement of any registered repair business working in the electric automotive industry. However, of greater concern to AEVA is a push to make the construction, repair and maintenance of EVs a licensed activity.  We see no problem with undertaking a minimum level training, but requiring a license will only prolong the current skills shortage in the automotive trades, and render the Australian pastime  of vehicle modifications an outlawed activity.

Don't forget, the National Code of Practice for EV conversions, NCOP14 is the go-to standard for a safe and reliable conversion. An EV conversion is not for the timid, but with careful planning and an eye for detail, you too can build your own!

EV Album is the global repository of EV conversions, but for Australian, and AEVA member-based conversions, check out the vehicles below.
